2003 PanoptiCon Convention

On the 1st and 2nd of November 2003 Panopticon Celebrated 40 years of Doctor Who. Chris Balcombe made it to the first day of events and took these photos.

The voice of K9 John Leeson, and the surviving original K9. Irvine said he would be happy for K9 to go into a public museum.....he was merely looking after him and did not own him. Leeson recounted how, after anonymously entering, he came only second in a 'best K9 voice' contest at a united states convention.

Effects man Matt Irvine bought along a number of original who props. Included is this green undersea craft used by the silurians and sea devils from warriors of the deep.

The main hall was packed to capacity.

In the main hall, the original five doctors onwards console has been superbly refurbished and now displays all the flashing lights in working order....something not seen since it's five doctors' debut.

In the main hall, Peter Davison recieved long and warm applause after a laugh-a-minute chat covering everything, including his early appearance on the UK show 'This is your life' , when he failed to recognize his own mother's voice when her message was played.
Matt Irvine bought his famous piece of equipment used several times in the tom baker story stones of blood.
In the main hall, the first interviewees were, from right to left, Carole Anne Ford (Susan), Peter Purves (Steven) and Dalek designer Ray Cusick.

Matt Irvine bought these two spiders from jon pertwee's final series 'planet of the spiders'. One the left is 'Boris' who was animatronic and, with the replacement of a few rubber bands, will still operate, says Matt.
